Training for Caregivers

The ABA Center for Excellence team has developed a curriculum designed to train caregivers so that they have the tools needed to teach our clients new skills that will help them fully integrate into their communites. By training caregivers, we strive to build up communities that, not only include our clients but they also, make sure that our clients have a voice in their communities.

Our curriculum is a person centered and hands on approach that uses inclusive language so that anybody can understand and implement the techniques. It takes caregivers through phases at their own pace, starting with the easiest possible caregiver skills that will make the biggest difference in their loved ones lives.

This curriculum has proven effective for parents, direct care staff, and many others that provide care to people with IDD. Through caregiver training, we have helped many caregivers learn how to prevent behavioral issues and respond effectively to disruptive behaviors. We realize that behavior support services are hard to find; With this curriculum, we are able to decrease the need for behavior support services by teaching caregivers how to analyze behaviors and develop interventions on their own.
